For this assignment I decided to focus on food. My goal was to isolate the food from the background to give it a greater depth of focus. I went to Ann Arbor and Whole Foods to shoot pictures. The experience I had was the most fun with this assignment, as I love and enjoy food with a passion. I learned to leave a plain background and to take pictures quick while the food just came out. f - 5.6 - 1/60 sec - ISO 800I didn't make any edits to this photo because I like it as it is.

For this assignment I focused on Black and White. I went downtown Ann Arbor to get some shots which made out for some interesting pictures. It was the Michigan game meaning it was loaded with people decked in their Michigan gear and I seized the opportunity to get some pictures. Aperture - f/13 - 1/125 sec - ISO 100In light room I decreased the vibrance and saturation all the way down and added some highlights.
The purpose of this assignment was to take an original image and to isolate it from the background. We used photoshop to accomplish this. In the end, the background is solid black and the specks on the car have been removed. These are the before and after pictures. BeforeAfter For this assignment, I decided to shoot animals. For this, I went to the Toledo Zoo and shot some pictures there. Giraffes stood a couple inches from you and ate out of your hands and it was such a lovely experience. I loved getting to play around with the different settings and getting to shoot with my love for animals. I learned that I needed to have my zoom lens to get more better quality pictures. f/5.6 - 1/125 sec - ISO 100In light room I raised the exposure, added shadows, decreased the whites and blacks, increased the clarity, decreased the vibrance and brought up the saturation.
For this assignment, we used photoshop to create an Andy-Warhol effect on our pictures. This is the way mine turned out with the original for context. Now, here is my pop art creation:I learned how to move through photoshop smoothly and the skills it takes to edit. Overall I thought it was a great experience. In this assignment I focused on nature and all of its beauty. This created a unique experience for me as it was very difficult especially to capture pictures of butterflies without them flying. Overall it took me out of my comfort zone and made me a little better at photography. What I learned is that when trying to capture something, go out of your comfort zone and you'll get a better picture. f/3.5 - 1/1000 seconds - ISO 200 Some edits I added to this photo include lowering the temperature and tint, lowering the exposure and contrast, and adding highlights and the saturation. For this shooting assignment I will be focusing on Nature/Landscape. I love nature and capturing it's beauty all in one picture and I think it will come natural for me. I'm hoping to improve my skills and be able to show nature in it's entirety. Some inspiration I found is:
Photo #1 I really like this photo for the reason that it looks mysterious and it creates almost an ominous atmosphere with the deer. Photo #2 This picture is beautiful to me because it feels alive. The picture comes to life with the butterfly and the colors. I think this image really screams nature. Photo #3 I really am interested in night photography and this picture is amazing to me. The way the sky looks and the lights, it really creates an atmosphere. This assignment was to capture the different composition elements. The different elements include: Symmetry, Depth of Field, Texture, Pattern, Color, Perspective, Balance, Rule of Thirds, Space, Framing and Lines. I had a lot of fun with this assignment and it really took me out of my comfort zone. It allowed me to be creative and express myself in my pictures. These pictures were shot either at school or around my house. From this assignment I've learned how to use the basic parts of my camera and take better photos. It was an experience that I fully enjoyed and learned from. It was interesting to work with the different elements and being able to incorporate them into my photos. Overall this assignment was a positive experience toward my photography skills.
My name is Emily Talaga and I'm kinda new to the photography world. I hope to get better everyday and use this as a tool to see my progression. A little about me; I'm a very introverted person because of the fact I grew up in a smaller family with my older sister. I'm 15, even though people say I'm mature for my age and I look older. My passion is to one day become a veterinarian because my heart has so much love for animals.
The reason I took this class was to expand my knowledge about cameras and to find better techniques. I also take yearbook which will make this class a HUGE help to my photography. Honestly, I don't have much experience but I'm determined to make myself take better pictures and to become the best photographer you've ever met. |
