For this assignment we were supposed to take pictures of an object and change the context of the photo. Overall, this assignment was fun and allowed my creativity to come out. The last one is my favorite, mostly because I wish I could be at the beach right now.

For this assignment, we were given the option to take pictures of color and food and I chose to display images that I thought were best for color. These pictures were ones that I've already taken over time but I love each of them. I thought that these pictures I have really emphasize color and display it well.
For this assignment we took photos demonstrating these techniques and learned the definitions of each principle of design. BalanceWhen different parts of an image draw the viewer's attention equally, the image is considered to be balanced. MovementMotion blur is the apparent streaking of moving objects in a photograph or a sequence of frames, such as a film or animation. Repitition/RhythmWhen you repeat a certain size or shape or color you add strength to the overall image. EmphasisEmphasis is defined as an area or object within the artwork that draws attention and becomes a focal point. SimplicityA photograph with a clear message can be as effective as possible; its composition, colors, subject matter, and lighting all add to the impression that you are trying to convey. ContrastDifference between elements. ProportionProportion in photography is usually comparing size of objects, or the amount of one thing to the whole SpaceThe rule of space in photography is simply the act of adding visual space in front of the direction that an object is moving, looking or pointing to imply motion and direction and to lead the eye of the viewer. UnityUnity is taking the parts of a piece of art and unifying them in to something better as a whole. In summary, this assignment helped us learn the different techniques of design and ways to capture photos. Overall this was a good practice in learning the different principles of design. I think that this was a good assignment for us to start off with because I haven't taken creative photos like this in a while.
Welcome back! I'm continuing my journey with Digital Photography II. This trimester I want to get back into taking unique pictures and getting better at photography in general. It'll take a bit for me to get back into this because I haven't taken photography in over a year but I'm looking forward to it!
From the start, I had very little camera knowledge. I had no idea how to even work one nor the correct settings for good photos. I had no idea what aperture, shutter speed or iso meant. I took digital photography to expand my knowledge in photography as it has always been an interest to me. The first few photoshoots we had were a challenge to me. I mostly shot in auto at first because I was afraid to mess with the settings. My first photos turned out decent, not the best based on my lack of knowledge. Then I really had to get out of my comfort zone because of all the shooting assignments we had. After I had learned some basic knowledge about the camera I attempted to mess with the settings. After I did this, I think my creative side started to come out. When I realized the difference can make when you chose the settings, I rarely used auto. My first few photoshoots were a bit challenging but along the way I think I started to get more creative and comfortable taking photos. Afterwards when we started to get into the photoshop assignments I was really frustrated with the program and had no idea how to work it. The first few didn't turn out as well as I wanted, but it's a learning process. Compared to my recent photoshop work, I think I've learned a few tips and tricks in the program. Overall, I went from knowing absolutely nothing about cameras or an understanding for photography, to having an appreciation for it. In photography there are no limits and it's such a great way to express yourself. The reason I took the class was apart of being a photographer for yearbook but I feel like there was more to take away from the class. I really enjoyed the freedom and creativity we had in the class. I feel like I've learned a lot but I want to improve my skills in photography every day. This class has advanced my knowledge and allowed me to pursue something involving photography.
For this demo, we showcased how to focus on an image with the background blurred. I experimented with a few settings and ended up with one I really liked. I learned that you need to pan around the object to get a good image. I had trouble at first getting the motion blur but in the end this is what I got out of it.
For this weeks assignment I decided to focus on architecture. I went downtown Ann Arbor to scope out some old buildings with nice texture. I tried to find buildings with shadows and to capture the sky in the background. Overall, I loved the experience of getting to learn about old buildings and history of Ann Arbor. I learned that there are certain angles and textures you can have in the picture that'll make it better. f/10 - 1/250 sec - ISO 100For this assignment, I focused on the topic of macro which is shooting things up close. To shoot, I tried to do nature type pictures at a park and I also shot some at home. I looked up inspiration online to replicate. f/5.6 - 1/200 sec- ISO 100For this assignment we made panoramic photos. We did this by taking multiple photos that overlap each other and stitched them together. I learned that this method of taking photos is very efficient and simple.
For this assignment I focused on the subject of motion. I went to various locations to shoot and ended up with some good photos. I went downtown Ann Arbor and shot some cars and buses moving and the bowling alley where I shot the ball hitting the pins. I learned that for this assignment the shutter speed was a key factor. The best photo I captured was while we were driving, I put my camera shutter speed low and shot all the cars moving and I love the way it turned out. f/5.6 - 30 sec - ISO 100 |
